Cosmic Child Horoscope
June 2005
by ERIC FRANCIS

Aries (March 20-April 19)
When the seasons change, Aries children can take remarkable turns in their personal stories. Astrology always works on at least two layers: the more obvious expressions of the personality, and the inner side of life that is less apparent to anyone but those who are most intimate with us. Aries of every age are likely to be feeling emotionally sensitive now, but this comes with deep impressionability. Events and developments of this month could remain factors for a long time. I suggest going a little further with your attempts to reach into any isolation you perceive. Nobody is a lone wolf, and everyone on this planet needs reassurance.

Taurus (April 19-May 20)
'Who's to blame?' may be the big question, and there may be some obsession with the answer. 'But you did that, so I get to do that.' Keep your patience. At every stage of growth above the age of three, responsibility is an issue on some level. The question is, what level. Society is complicated, and even most adults don't understand how their own families run. It's fair enough to play along with any games of keeping score, keeping promises and attempts to track the different privileges people seem to have. Girls may be concerned that boys seem to get away with more. Is it true? That is the question.

Gemini (May 20-June 21)
Everyone claims that Gemini people are creatures of their brains. But I assure you that this is true at most for an hour a day. The mental layer, the one that can spell four syllable words at age three, is more like a convenience than it is a core reality. And the emotional core is what is getting the attention for the next few weeks, which may tell you a lot about why you may not be able to relate using old reference points or ideas. Everything must be reconciled in terms of immediate feelings, which are likely to change fast, and grow deeper. Learning to express love verbally would be a fine place to focus now.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
This will be a big birthday for your Cancer child; self-awareness is running deep as is the sense that there is so much of life to experience. Cancer kids of every age have done more than their fair share of maturing the past two years, and as the official, certified adult in the situation, one contribution you can make is to remind them in clear ways that a kid is a kid no matter how responsible they may feel. You may want to take the responsibility to give them less responsibility or, in the case of older kids, trade back household jobs or responsibilities they don't want for ones they do.

Leo (July 22-Aug 23)
This is a good month to listen to your child's dreams, and to spend some time speaking about their dreams with them. Remember the basics. Dreams feel real but are usually symbolic messages. The feeling of a dream is often more important than the content, so that's a good place to start the discussion. And dreams often reveal our deeper, hidden feelings about our lives, and are useful for helping us see our true state of mind. Give them a chance to speak for themselves on all these issues. You'll be surprised by what you hear, and what you learn will save you a lot of trouble.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Virgos are more independent than most people recognize. There is a fierceness to many born under this sign that comes with a deep, intuitive understanding of just what a mess this planet is, coupled with a strong desire to straighten the whole thing out. Virgo kids need to be around like-minded others this month. Not, for instance, anyone they consider boring or out of it. Their sharp perceptions never fail them, though they often know their limits; your job is to get them a few steps past their limits, to empathize with their worldview, and to make sure they know they're not alone.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23)
Parents have been daunting, towering figures in the lives of Libra kids for many seasons now. It's true that parents take on the role of god and goddess, being the very people who gave them life. But this has been particularly true for a long spell of their lives. They are, this summer, likely to go through a phase of seeing things more realistically, which is part of a natural process of growing up. Yet some of their early impressions will never change, and if your Libra child seems to worship you, the chances are it's well placed. Do your best to live up to their impressions of your power and wisdom.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
This is a great summer for long distance travel, particularly June. Remember that for young people, long distance can mean driving across the state -- or to anyplace that gets them somewhere new, out of their immediate surroundings, and into meeting people they have never known before. The older they are, the more likely it is they will need to take a trip alone, which is perfectly appropriate for many kids 14 or older. They need to sense their independence, and to have some tangible evidence that you trust their newfound sense of integrity.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)
Developments of the past few months may point to the inescapable conclusion that your child is in fact free to do as he or she pleases. How you deal with this has more to do with the art of parenting than anything we've seen on Oprah. It's fair enough to teach that certain kinds of freedom are appropriate for different ages, and to do your best to tailor the universe of available activity to the developmental stage of your child. However, they are more in the mood to push certain matters of a philosophical nature than usual, and can usually outwit you with little effort. And there is, in fact, no fighting the point that their life is their life.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
Your Capricorn child, or partner, for that matter, is likely to be looking toward you for more reassurance than usual, and that will come in the way they perceive you as feeling about them. So watch carefully how you feel and make sure you don't send any unintended messages. The most important message you can send can be summed up in one word: yes. Capricorns have spent most of the recent past standing in the face of limits that seem never to go away. This is a sad enough condition in the lives of so many born under this sign, and you have a lot of power to at least take them past the seeming limits on human compassion.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
There will be enormous gains made if everything is looked for in terms of its roots on the emotional level. Health situations, family situations, and anything involving the state of mind is likely to have an emotional connection. That, in turn, is likely to be connected to the environment. Use both logic and intuition. Eliminate chemicals, sugar and television and substitute anything more natural, empathic and nourishing. Remember that any problem that has actually surfaced has roots in the past and may take as long to work out as it did to develop in the first place.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)
Pisces are not necessarily more creative than anyone else, but they put this aspect of themselves first, and live for their ability to swim in the soft world where ideas and reality merge into one. For the next few months, this is particularly true, so you may want to take the opportunity to indulge any Pisces in the vicinity in anything that comes with color, feeling, and the sense that the world within is more important than the world without. Few adults actually believe this, but now would be an excellent time to start experimenting with uncommon sense.
